Visa Delays for Pakistan Cricket Team swiftly resolved

After numerous visa delays for Pakistan Cricket Team, the Indian government has finally issued travel documents to the Pakistan Cricket Squad. This development has ensured the Pakistan Cricket Team’s participation in India’s upcoming ICC World Cup 2023. Pakistan Cricket Board’s spokesperson Umar Farooq Kalson has officially confirmed the news and ESPNCricInfo also reported that issues of Pakistan cricket Team have officially been sorted.

Due to flight issues, documentation issues, non-confirmation of travels, uncertainty of practice matches and sessions, there is a lot of uncertainty among players as well as fan’s minds concerning the ICC World Cup 2023. It is a very prestigious event, to be conducted in India over different cities.

Pakistan Cricket Team’s World Cup Travel Plans Unveiled

As the issues are now cleared, the Pakistan Cricket team is going to embark on their ICC World Cup 2023 journey to India. Pakistan Cricket team will depart from Lahore on September 27, 2023, for Hyderabad, India as their final destination. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially set up two warm-up matches for the men in green, first on September 29, 2023, against New Zealand and second against Australia on October 3, 2023.

PCB Expresses Concerns to ICC over Visa Delays

Pakistan Cricket Board has taken up the issues with the International Cricket Council calling it “extraordinary delays” by the Indian government, despite it being an International Cricket Council event. Moreover, the Pakistan Cricket Board also emphasized it to be inequitable and preferential treatment and stressed the Indian government must fulfill its obligations as a host nation of the ICC World Cup 2023. Any such delay in travel plans, could jeopardize Pakistan’s performance in the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023.

Impact on Team Preparations: A Last-Minute Scramble

Pakistan Cricket Board had planned team-building exercises in Dubai en route to India, but due to these prolonged flight issues by the Indian government have caused the Pakistan Cricket Board to cancel all team-building activities in Dubai.

Pakistan Cricket Board had to revise all its plans pertaining to the Dubai Team-Building Exercises and Pre-ICC World Cup 2023 activities, solely due to the issues in flight arrangements. This last-minute scramble has added an extra layer of uncertainty to their pre-tournament preparations.

Travelling Challenges for Fans and Media

Not only is Pakistan Cricket Squad facing travelling difficulties, but Cricket Enthusiasts and media personnel from Pakistan are also treated in the same fashion. Fans and Journalists, eager to cover the ICC World Cup 2023, are also facing difficulties in obtaining travel documents through the Indian High Commission’s website.

The Indian High Commission’s portal for obtaining Indian travel documents has remained inaccessible for an extended period of time, leaving many cricket enthusiasts and journalists frustrated, leaving them posting negative comments on social media platforms – a source of constant embarrassment for the Indian government and its associated authorities.

Few Journalists have also reported that they had to employ agents to complete their online forms, resulting in incurring additional amounts to obtain an Indian travel document.

Appeal to Indian High Commission for Resolution

The Indian High Commission has also been appealed to by The Rawalpindi-Islamabad Sports Journalists Association to immediately solve issues in connection to obtaining Indian travel documents to cover the beautiful game of cricket, happening in India this year.

The Rawalpindi-Islamabad Sports Journalists Association urged the Indian High Commission to consider accepting hand-filled travel document applications from media personnel, including those accredited with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the ICC.

The instant appeal came as a result of limited time left before the commencement of the much-anticipated ICC World Cup 2023 event.
